On the 5th and 6 th of january, in Valtellina, an ancient tradition takes place :

the Gabinàt .

The word comes from the German : "Gaben-Nacht” that means "the gifts' night".

Indeed from the afternoon of the 5th , the first person who screamed Gabinat before the others was traditionally rewarded with sweets, among them the traditional cùpeta,

made with honey and nuts.
